Reishi is no doubt the most famous of all medicinal mushrooms.Titled the ‘elixir of life’ by the ancient Taoists in China over 4,000 years ago, reishi is a longevity tonic that increases endurance and stamina, normalizes blood pressure, reduces cholesterol and strengthens immunity. In Japanese, reishi translates to ‘spirit plant’ and is officially used to treat cancer by up regulating T cells, macrophages, TNF, interleukin 2, and protecting against free radical damage and radiation. Reishi has the ability to give the body energy to live a long and healthy life. As an adaptogen, reishi relieves fatigue, improves liver health and balances blood sugar.

ORIGIN / HABITAT:
Reishi grows wild on hardwood decaying logs and tree stumps in damp dark forests. It occurs in six different colors, but the red variety is most commonly used and commercially cultivated in East Asia and North America. It is native to China.
